The best way to use email is to respond when you have time to respond fully. If you look at it this way, you can see how you can use email to help you stay focused on your work, instead of keeping you distracted. This means that next time you get an email, you don’t respond right away. Instead, set a reminder in your calendar for when you have time to respond, and then just let the email sit. This means that your inbox isn’t a to-do list (even if it is set up like one). Don’t use your inbox as a to-do list. Use it only for communication. Anything that isn’t an email communication should be set up as a to-do item in a proper to-do list program.
