Since its move from proof of work (PoW) to proof of Stake (PoS), Ethereum has been positioning itself for the crypto long haul.
In January 2023, the Shanghai upgrade is scheduled to roll out with EOF (End-of-File) implementation, a significant code change in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). EVM is Ethereum’s core component that processes all transactions.
The EOF implementation is the first significant change since the 2015 inception of the EVM. Five Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIP) must be implemented and tested by January 5, 2023. The successful launch of the EIPs ensures that other code changes within the completed on-time upgrade do not delay staked ETH withdrawals.
A cross-client test network launch is scheduled for late January 2023, with a possible mainnet shadow fork in early February 2023. Three minor EIPs will follow in March 2023.
The Shanghai upgrade’s focus is improving Ethereum’s scalability, including withdrawals.
Once crypto’s Siberian Winter gives way to crypto spring, Ethereum should be primed for a significant run in the cryptoverse.
J.P.MORGAN:
The Ethereum Merge was a major software upgrade to the Ethereum blockchain that went live in September and reduced its energy usage by 99.95%, according to developers. The Surge, another anticipated upgrade, is seen reducing costs to make the ethereum network safer and process transactions faster.
The cryptoverse is here to stay, and it could be for you. Follow along as I learn; maybe you will learn, and perhaps, together, we can explore the cryptoverse.
Disclaimer: I am an avid student of all things crypto. The cryptoverse caught my attention when COVID-19 captured the world and locked down the global economy. Since then, I have dedicated a portion of my time to learn about this currency — the currency of the future — and international business. As a writer, I have determined to journal my discoveries. I have chosen to write them in short, bite-sized articles to help anyone interested in learning about this space. These articles are not written in cryptoese or investments but are easy-to-understand articles. I am not offering advice, simply the information I discovered on my unexpected journey into the cryptoverse. There could be something for the seasoned investor to glean from reading, but my focus is on the crypto-curious.
