In today’s rapidly evolving digital age, the DePIN track is increasingly becoming a focal point in the industry. At the “EMC Exploration: Leading the AI DePIN Revolution” AMA hosted by EMC, co-founder Alex, Fanttec CTO Harry Guo, and M Block co-founder Justin shared their profound insights on EMC’s role in the DePIN sector.

As EMC’s co-founder, Alex emphasized the importance of technological innovation when discussing EMC’s leading position in the DePIN track. He pointed out that EMC effectively utilizes idle GPU resources by combining the advantages of traditional GPU cloud computing with decentralized edge computing methods. This not only significantly reduces costs but also enhances efficiency and scalability, allowing EMC to stand out in a highly competitive market. Additionally, Alex highlighted EMC’s progress in AI-generated content, especially in the social e-commerce domain, and strategic collaborations with organizations like Hashmeta, Shopee, and exaBITS, further solidifying EMC’s leadership in the DePIN field.

Addressing the challenges faced, Alex candidly mentioned that in shaping the DePIN sector, EMC encountered several hurdles. A primary challenge was integrating dispersed computational power into an efficient and coordinated network. EMC resolved this issue by developing the EMC Protocol, which integrates idle GPUs into an edge computing network, requiring complex blockchain technology. Another challenge was motivating and managing a decentralized network of computational power providers. EMC countered this by implementing a multi-tier reward mechanism that encourages participation and efficiency. Additionally, ensuring data security and user privacy in a decentralized environment was crucial. EMC tackled this by collaborating with privacy computing solution providers like Anquan Lu and the TITAN project, offering top-tier encrypted storage and computation services.

Regarding EMC’s future plans, Alex expressed a commitment to expanding AI services and enhancing user experience. He mentioned EMC’s plan to integrate more AI services on its platform to provide richer and more efficient solutions. Simultaneously, EMC aims to improve user experience, for instance, by introducing USDT and EMC deposit functionalities, and simplifying the development and deployment processes of AI applications. These plans not only reflect EMC’s pursuit of technological frontiers but also demonstrate a deep understanding of user needs and keen market insights.

Fanttec’s CTO, Harry Guo, also provided deep insights into EMC’s application and future development in the DePIN track. He emphasized that the trend of migrating AI-generated content (AIGC) models and applications from traditional physical infrastructure to DePIN infrastructure is evident. As a leading project combining AI with Web3, EMC boasts an ambitious vision and strong team, leading Fanttec to deeply engage with EMC. EMC has already transitioned applications like large language models (LLM) and text-to-image applications, which require substantial computational power and pose challenges for developers.

Harry stressed that the incorporation of the EMC network has made this concept more feasible. In the EMC network, applications and AI services are no longer coupled together. AI services exist as foundational services on the EMC network, accessed by applications via API interfaces, without worrying about where these services are deployed or by which node they are provided. He explained that when developers send API requests to EMChub, they only need to wait for a response, as service discovery, load balancing, and retry mechanisms are no longer concerns for developers. This significantly simplifies the development of AI applications, reduces the workload, and accelerates the development process.

Looking to the future, Harry mentioned EMC’s plans to further explore AI applications in the DePIN field. With the maturation of large visual models and multimodal large language models, more foundational large models, including object detection, segmentation, recognition, super-resolution reconstruction, image restoration, and AI agents, will become available on the EMC network. He predicts that the EMC network will become a new infrastructure for AI, with developers in the EMC ecosystem gaining access to more AI capabilities and computational power. In the coming year, AIGC will remain a hot field, with exciting new models and content emerging.

M Block co-founder Justin, in discussing EMC’s performance on the DePIN track, particularly emphasized the importance of data diversity and security. He noted that many major AI applications currently lack diversity, leading to a skewed representation of the real world. To address this issue, Justin believes it is crucial to empower everyone to contribute to AI data, thereby fostering diverse and accurate data representation. This requires a global collaborative effort to create a globally consistent AI system that accommodates different perspectives. Additionally, the authenticity and security of data are vital for current and future generations. Forged or erroneous data can distort history and pose risks to national cultures and global affairs. Therefore, using EMC’s decentralized computational network as a leader to provide a decentralized AI database for the world is key to maintaining data integrity and security, promoting a safe future for humanity.

Through the profound insights of Alex, Harry Guo, and Justin, we not only see EMC’s leading position in the DePIN field but also its innovative strategies and responses to challenges. EMC’s efforts in technology development, decentralized network construction, AI application promotion, and data security and diversity protection have set new benchmarks in the DePIN sector. As AI technology continues to advance and its application areas expand, EMC will continue to play a leading role on the DePIN track, driving the integration and development of artificial intelligence and decentralized technology to higher levels.
