How to register the .sats on the BTC chain?

As the original blockchain work, the BTC domain name was also fired.

Although there is no special application yet, considering the ENS airdrop and SPACEID airdrop, many people want to register a BTC domain name to commemorate it. There may not necessarily be surprises, but there is a certain stability.

Some time ago, I saw a tutorial compiled by a blogger. The operation was too complicated to handle. In the past two days, I found another tutorial, which is easier to operate. After sorting it out, you can follow up if you need it.

Casting BTC domain names, that is .sats domain names, involves keywords such as Lightning Network, Ordinals protocol, inscriptions, etc. This article will not go into details, but will sort out how to register a .sats domain name.

1. Create a HiroWallet wallet.

Similar to Metamask, HiroWallet is a digital wallet based on Bitcoin and L2 (such as Stacks); Ordinals is also connected to Hiro Wallet, and Ordinals is an NFT trading platform on the Bitcoin chain.

It can be installed directly through the Google chrome to create a wallet.

2. Cast the .sats domain name through the ordswap platform.

Forge domain names on the Ordswap platform (inscribe.ordswap.io), select the text method, and if the number of castings is multiple, check batch inscription.

The text input format is {“p”:”sns”,”op”:”reg”,”name”:”btc.sats”}, replace btc with the domain name you need to mint.

3. Check whether the domain name has been registered.

Before registering, you must first check whether the domain name you want to register has been registered. If it has already been registered, the registration will not be successful even if you pay the foundry fee, and the fee will not be refunded.

You can replace name with the domain name to be registered in
api.sats.id/names/name.sats, prompting not found.

Indicates that it can be registered. If the inscription and block information appear, it has been registered.

4. Fill in the address to receive .sats, and pay for minting.

Fill in the Ordinal inscription address of HiroWallet in the receiving address, which usually starts with bc.

After confirming the receiving address, select Make a payment.

Currently, the cost of registering a BTC domain name is 0.000268 BTC, which is about $8.

After confirming the receiving address, click Confirm Payment and a QR code and payment address will appear.

You can pay BTC through exchange withdrawal, or pay through BTC wallet.

Withdraw payment from the exchange, pay attention to the minimum withdrawal amount of the platform, for example, Binance is 0.001BTC, while minting one BTC and paying gas does not exceed 0.001, you can mint more, or pay in small amounts from the wallet.

5. After payment, check the domain name in the wallet after a period of time.

After the payment is completed, you need to wait for a certain period of time. When I register,I check it in my wallet after about 50 minutes.

No one knows what is the use of registering the .sats domain name now, or just to commemorate it, or whether a certain project will snapshot all .sats domain name holders to issue airdrops in the future, it is unknown.

At present, the BTC ecological NFT is a little hot, especially some time ago Yuga Lab launched Twelvefold in the Ordinals market, and the highest auction price exceeded 7 BTC.

Also, the Boring Ape on the BTC chain was also very lively a while ago. The Boring Ape on the Ethereum chain was recast on the BTC chain. Although it was a short-lived popularity, it was free for casting at that time, and now the floor price is 0.51ETH.

Two days ago, I also saw that the Bitcoin pizza NFT was also minted for free. It is a set of pixel pizzas to commemorate the story of 1w BTC being exchanged for 2 pizza flatbreads at that time.

These hotspots are all staged. After registering the .sats domain name, there may be no surprises.

In addition to the .sats domain name, there is also the .btc domain name of the BTC second-tier STACK. Registration requires 2 STX and can be used for 5 years.

Use HiroWallet to log in at btc.us, search for unregistered domain names and claim directly.

Transfer STX to the wallet through the Binance lightning network, and each wallet address can only register one .btc domain name.

Of course, these are just experiences on the chain, and leaving traces on the chain is likely to be a waste of money.

The above is just my personal opinion, no investment advice. I’m Chuxiaolian, and I’m paying attention to Metaverse and web3.
