Hello everyone and I’ve gotta say, if any of my articles have impressed you and you probably may have had one of them as your favorite, this piece would change your mind. Last month I joined a new community, invited by my good friend, Freaketon. DEGA is a new project building tools and infrastructure for Web3 Gaming and Metaverse. This sounds like many other projects out there… But what’s really unique about them is that they are focusing on empowering emerging markets to partake in these new industries and grow together with it. Our community is extremely welcoming and the most active I’ve seen. There are also events almost everyday! They taught me about their concept of Liquid Reality and that really got my creative juices flowing, so I want explore it a bit on this blog post.

Join DEGA community HERE.

So today, I’m finally going to share with you, everything about LIQUID REALITY as I had promised in preceding articles. It’s a concept you all know I’m so fascinated by and I dug deep to get all the information I’m gonna share with y’all today concerning this concept. I also have to appreciate the CEO and Founder of DEGA, Carlos Rene, for having the time to indulge me in a 1-on-1 interview on this amazing concept that we’re about to experience. I’m privileged to have shared the same space with one of the most innovative persons on the face of the earth today. His insights and level of perception are a gift, and these gifts have produced for us DEGA, the full-stack infrastructure for web3 game development and metaverse applications. If you’re still not part of the tribe, I’m dropping the links to our Discord & Telegram channels, so get in and join in all the fun we have over there!

We’re almost there…but before we begin our exposé on the Liquid Reality concept, Carlos and I shared a little chat about DEGA and his visions for the Metaverse. If there’s one point he always reiterates whenever he’s called to speak, it’s his vision and that is to create a global metaverse built on open standards. The mission (which is what we do repeatedly to be able to realize the vision), is to create a platform that allows creators to be able to grow on top of it; a flexible, fast and low-cost platform. DEGA wants to specifically build something where the users are truly the owners of what they create. They become custodians of their assets in the virtual world, and also in a way that allows DEGA to onboard more people without them having to endure the massive learning curve you have to go through today to be able to use web3. Liquid Reality is a DEGA-authentic concept and it’s only befitting that a project with such a driving force would produce an initiative like this. Although I can hardly stop praising the efforts of DEGA, today wasn’t meant to be about DEGA; so let’s head straight to where the secrets lie…

Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin in 1928 could arguably be one of the most important medical discoveries in the modern era, but that’s not the only great idea to come out from London.

The idea governing Liquid Reality came about before its powerful phrase, in the sense that in Carlos’ mind, he had envisioned what a true Metaverse and events that take place in it should be like; but didn’t put a name to it. Before we get there, let’s talk about the metaverse a bit. At DEGA, we believe that the term Metaverse means “blurring the lines between the physical and digital worlds” and with Liquid Reality, we plan to even blur the boundaries further. To clarify this, a lot of people would start to think of virtual realities & augmented realities but these are all just components or tools used to achieve this “trend” of fusing worlds together. He described the concept of trying to create a true Metaverse event as one in which you can go into a physical venue and the virtual worlds would just “be there“, melding into the reality that we already have without needing to use a headset or any of those tools; you just walk into the experience! You can make sense of that just by reading it, can’t you? That’s exactly how it had always been but there was a different turn of events when he was describing this concept at an event that took place in London.

A friend, he calls Wayne, advised him to name this concept because communicating this with a limited amount of words was proving impossible. Wayne, by an intuitive perception, named this concept Liquid Reality because of what the guiding mechanics are. It had a nice ring to it and Carlos felt it was appropriate. It was a very natural and organic name considering what the concept actually is in its essence. The wording is really powerful and even without prior knowledge about it, the community connected with it and got excited when it was unveiled last year. Your subconscious can already build a perception of what “Liquid Reality” is and that’s why it just connects immediately when the term is used. It’s overall a beautiful concept!

Now, I bet what y’all are wondering exactly what I was wondering at this point too. What’s this concept? It’s a very attractive tag but your hunger for the information behind this innovation overwhelms you. So I’m gonna start with this…Liquid reality, like its concept, would be fluid. The main point to note is what Liquid Reality would be identified as, and that is the term UBIQUITOUS. Liquid Reality is Ubiquitous!

I asked him what the necessary building blocks to create a true Liquid reality would be and he said;

“…An automated and standardized pipeline that can allow live video and 3D content to flow seamlessly across devices. For example: I’m seeing a live video feed of a 3D scene rendered in real-time on a screen. I take my phone out, load the same fee and then have the capability to “navigate” the scene from multiple angles.

We need better compression by combining conventional algorithms with AI models such as NERF and super-sizing among others.

I could list many things because it’s not a thing that’ll ever be “done”. It’s like the internet and will continue to evolve.”

What this means is that we are going to be able to attend events from the comfort of our mobile phones. Look at it this way, when you walk into a physical venue, there are going to be screens that are going to serve as portals; in real time, into virtual worlds. So, both the people in the virtual & real world would see each other as if it were a window and we would be able to interact with each other. Wow! This is a clear case example of what he means when we’re talking about melding the two realities. For some experiences, you won’t be able to differentiate. Like seeing a live-video and being able to determine if it’s from a real-world place or from a digital rendering. Other things will be easy to differentiate. The simplest example is food. You can’t teleport food so that’ll be clearly something from the physical world.

Some really impressive feats to achieve but that’s not everything. It won’t be limited through screens and projectors. It would take place in many other ways because it won’t only take place from the virtual to the physical world, it would also take place from the physical to virtual world too. There are plans in place for this to be used at our Liquida event where there would be live music performances. With the integration of liquid reality, these events can happen in real time at both realities. Phones and tablets would have a part in this but he wants to make it clear that this experience is something that we would walk into. At this point, I was completely blown away by this statement. These are the kind of evolutions we see in movies and stuff like that, and it’s coming to us live!

Mahatma Gandhi once said, in a gentle way, you can shake the world

The possibilities surrounding Liquid Reality are infinite and as such, defining what path it would take in its evolution is impossible. Some of you might wonder how all of these concepts would be applied or maybe you draw conclusions on how it’s going to be run. At DEGA, we’re going to push as hard as we can. It’s not like it will be a dapp, but we could have that in the future thanks to tooling. Right now, Carlos and his team require multiple teams with different types of expertise in them. His team provides expertise in cloud infrastructure, web3 and everything Blockchain-related, they also have people in the team that can use tools like unreal engine and unity; and they’re working with other teams that would be joining DEGA as key strategic partners, for the 3D asset aspect, mode-tapping aspect and the virtual production aspect. Carlos believes that in terms of creating the best possible, high quality experience, his team should work with other teams that are as specialized as they are on Blockchain, in their respective fields. DEGA is currently in contact with 2 companies from Mexico city that are in love with the concept and are all onboard the vision.

Liquid Reality is a game changer, and I’m not talking about just any level…on all levels. Virtual realities have limitations right now and that is ‘the need to have a headset on before you can experience it’. The liquid reality concept is about being ubiquitous, it is about providing the best possible experience with the devices we’ve got at hand. Unlike what Facebook & Meta are trying to do with pushing a whole new type of device category to people, DEGA would just integrate the liquid reality concept wherever they already are. The main goal of liquid reality for now is to amplify the experience of events in the Metaverse and bring people together even closer. It’s about bringing a lot of people into a cohesive experience and for now, he is starting out with a wide range of events because they are building liquid reality with the community and cultural aspects considered.

Keep in mind that, Technologies are tools that we use to achieve a goal; they are not a goal in and of themselves. Liquid reality is a wonderful concept but it is a tool, a technological concept upon which we would build community relationships with other people.

In all honesty, all we have concerning the future of Liquid Reality are just theories as no one could ever predict how far we go as a human race. He envisions that Liquid Reality would be used in cases where an individual person with their phone would be able to create a live-cast with the quality that a company like Fox News can produce today. Also, indie developers, creating an AAA quality game experience with a laptop. The list goes on. It’s always going to be about fusing an experience that you couldn’t have had any other way with just your physical presence. We are entering a phase where a lot of content generation and also gaming will take place with these types of technologies and trends. How that phase would look is really left to speculation, but to be honest, we can’t begin to imagine where creative people are gonna take Liquid Reality to in the future.

It’s 2023 and as I keep saying, we are living in the future now. There are a lot of trends and concepts that people are adapting to. Liquid Reality should face a very natural and organic progression into the Metaverse. Let’s not forget that, at DEGA, we describe the Metaverse as blurring the lines between the physical and virtual worlds, and Liquid Reality is exactly what that means in a practical sense. Carlos imagines that Liquid Reality would present itself as that kind of experience; being more practical, effective and mesmerizing in terms of taking us to the Metaverse, as opposed to what other companies are trying to do which is to force us into headsets or closed ecosystems.

Just as so many other groundbreaking innovations have progressed, Liquid Reality will grow in front of our eyes…so stay tuned to our channels at DEGA and make sure to be present at our events because we’re going to keep releasing more information and prospects to come with Liquid Reality. It eventually would come to be interpreted in a multidimensional facet, in terms of what it means, what we can do with it and what exactly isn’t Liquid Reality. DEGA would try to provide the best guidance in terms of what we see coming for the next few years and the future of virtual experiences, but as we know, we operate as a global community and this concept will be open to everybody. So, while there’s a clear picture of where DEGA is going with Liquid Reality, people will take this concept to different places in future!

The future of the Metaverse is secured! Liquid Reality would completely revolutionize what we understand as virtual reality as it has the potential to be one of the most important discoveries in the Metaverse going forward! Our Liquida event is coming live later this year and we’re going to be making a full showcase of this concept at that event. So what are you waiting for?
